Randy is a Research Engineer/Codes Specialist with Simpson Strong-Tie, where he has been employed since 1994. He provides technical assistance and training on building codes, wind- and earthquake-resistant construction and the use of Simpson Strong-Tie connectors to builders, designers, consumers and building officials throughout the country.
Randy serves on several committees: the American Iron and Steel Institute Committee on Framing Standards, the American Forest and Paper Association Wood Designs Standards Committee, the International Code Council Ad Hoc Committee on Wall Bracing, the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) Technical Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the National Storm Shelter Association. He has participated in damage investigation teams for most major hurricanes to hit the U.S. mainland since 1988, including Hurricanes Hugo, Bob, Andrew, Opal, Fran, Charley and Katrina. Prior to joining Simpson Strong-Tie, he worked for 10 years at the Texas Department of Insurance.
