Director, Housing Innovation Alliance
For nearly 20 years, Betsy Scott has excelled at helping people think differently by taking complex ideas and concepts, analyzing them from the perspective of others, and translating the results into action. In 2007, she leveraged that approach to create the Best Practices Research Alliance, a collaborative think tank for the housing industry focused on driving innovation and addressing change head on.
Today, the Alliance represents 75 of the country’s most forward-thinking builders representing more than 140,000 new-home closings in 2013. In early 2016, we changed our name to the Housing Innovation Alliance -- reflecting a renewed commitment to business and technical innovation. Betsy facilitates collaboration between Alliance builder members, who drive the group’s agenda, and leading industry suppliers, who support programming and research activities.
Helping Alliance builders articulate the value of high-performance housing and earn a premium for delivering better homes is critical to driving innovation in the U.S. housing industry. To further that effort, Betsy represents the Alliance on the steering committee for the Value for High Performance Homes Campaign, a collaborative industry initiative to remove barriers to and demonstrate the value of energy efficient and high performance homes in the single-family home market.
